As I said in the first post, "I love Nancy Drew Games and it felt right to talk about for the first post. This is one of my favorite games in the series because it's in the 1930's. Secret of the Old Clock is the 12th game in the series and as I said before it's in the 1930's, which for me was a win. So let's get started!
Secret of the Old Clock: Emily Crandall |
Game Description
“It's 1930 and Nancy Drew is asked to visit Emily Crandall, in Titusville, a girl whom Nancy knows only through a mutual friend. She and her mother had been counting on the generosity of their kindly but strange neighbor, Josiah Crowley, to leave them part of his estate to support the inn they own. But in his will, everything was left to Richard Topham, his ESP teacher. A contested will, a suffering girl, suspicious psychics — can Nancy solve the mystery before time runs out in Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock?”
Secret of the Old Clock: Kitchen Fire |
This game has been one my favorite ever since I bought it back in 2009 or 2010. I bought this game with a collection of four other games, but I was immediately drawn to this game specifically. Though the other games such as The Curse of Blackmoor Manor, Secret of Shadow Ranch, and Last Train to Bluemoon Canyon were games I really loved to play, Secret of the Old Clock is always one of the few games that I reach for first.
Secret of the Old Clock: Workbench in Josiah Crowley Shed |
Storyline
Overall, the game had a really fun plot line as you solved not just one mystery but two. One being the money Josiah Crowley had supposed left people in Titusville, the second was where did Emily Crandall jewels go. Each of these mysteries were separate, yet tired together perfectly as once you solve one mystery, the second one was soon to follow. Though this game is slightly older, the graphics of the game have aged very well and they look amazing to this day.
Secret of the Old Clock: Mini Golf Course |
Puzzles
Another favorite in the game was the endless puzzles you could solve. The golfing puzzle, the bolts puzzle if you were lucky enough to get a blown tire with no money, and the driving challenge were basically the highlight of the game for me since I would just randomly turn on the game and play these puzzles and challenged when I was bored or was looking for something fun to do. I've play this game so many time that it is now engraved into my memory and I know almost exactly what to do every step of the way.
World/Graphics
When it comes to the graphics of CLK, they are absolutely gorgeous! I love how large the game is and how we are able to drive around to different locations. Though we don't get to see to many locations in the game, I love how we get to see some fun old black and white photos to help represent the locations that Nancy visits!
Thank you everyone for reading. This game is still my number one favorite game to date and I don't think that will be changing anytime soon. You can get your copy of the game over on Steam or directly from Her Interactive with a free strategy guild when you purchase it. So have you played the game, and if so what do you think? I would love to know down in the comments below.
Until next time,
