HeR Interactive Mystery of the Seven Keys?

A click bait title? I know, it's not the best, but when you find out that HeR created a new trademark for a new video game called Mystery of the Seven Keys, you know that at least half of the Nancy Drew fan based will go bonkers over it. After all, HeR hasn't trademarked anything for a while. Midnight in Salem isn't trademarked so that begs to questions, what is this mysterious trademark for? Well, there's only one way to know and that is by creating our own theories about what this could be. WARNING everything in this post will be focused on not confirmed information. This is only a theory about what I think this game could be.  So, let's get started!

The Facts
Before we go into the conspiracies, lets talk about what we know.  First of all, we know that HeR is filing a trademark defined as a downloadable video game with the title, Mystery of the Seven Keys.  Do we know anything else about this, no.  What we do know is that on November 2nd, HeR shared a post on Instagram asking what Nancy Drew books would people like to see turned into games.  (This leads into my first conspiracy).  But, other than that, we know very little about what is actually happening at the company.

This is also a first for HeR placing the word "Mystery" in the title of any of their games since none of the other Nancy Drew games have that in the title or in the other games they've released created by the company. What does that mean?

Nancy Drew Yellow Back Books with Keys in Title
The Clue of the Black Keys
The Key of the Satin Pocket

So it's possible that these two books could have influenced the game, but that's somewhat of stretched out theory. There are probably more books with the term key in the title for Nancy Drew, but we don't really know if its based off of a book or if its a new idea entirely!  But the possibility of is being based off a ND book focused on keys would not be out of place.

Ransom of the Seven Ships, Similar Title, Possibly A Remastered Game
The fact that the tile has a very similar feeling to Ransom of the Seven Ships could just be a complete coincidence.  I'm all out there for the crazy idea, but does RAN have anything to do with Mystery of the Seven Keys, very unlikely.  If it is, my guess would be its a remake for RAN which improves the game styling and probably changes what the whole game itself because of what came out back in 2020 about the game being discontinued, which you can read in my post "HeR Interactive Discontinues NancyDrew Ransom of the Seven Ships".

Not A New Nancy Drew Game, But A New Game Series Entirely
Now, HeR in known for its Nancy Drew games, but is this really a Nancy Drew game or is it a new series entirely.  In the trademark, it doesn't state that its Nancy Drew or anything else.  All we know is that it's a mystery game (cue in the title name), but nothing states that we will have Nancy Drew back on our screens.  This is highly possible since we know that HeR has never trademarked their older Nancy Drew games, but it's still possible that they're just stepping in a new direction by trademarking this game. Possibly making it the first in an entirely new series.

NDW Vlog #142: Mystery of the Seven Keys?? | #ND34isntDEAD

Huw of Nancy Drew Walkthroughs also talked about this new revelation and what it could mean.  I completely agree with what he says and it's interesting to see what will come next!  The fact that HeR has never trademarked the other ND games is making me believe my third theory about it not being a Nancy Drew game true. It's also possible that HeR is changing their strategy on how they begin marking their games and placing protective trademarks over it.

Thank you everyone for reading!  This is probably one of the most craziest days of news when it comes to HeR's 34th game and I cannot wait to see what's to come!  Hopefully, we will get some news soon.  Maybe HeR will be nice and announce something for a Christmas present to loyal fans. If you want to see more of my Nancy Drew related posts, check out all my Nancy Drew posts!  Also check out my other Game Reviews for new recommendations of games that I have played.
