Nancy Drew Curse of Blackmoor Manor Review

The Curse of Blackmoor Manor is one of my favorite games to play when it's time to get into more spookier games.  This Halloween is no different with Daniella and I playing this game again over on our Twitch channel DJTwinGamers!  We were super excited to play this game over on stream and have really enjoyed playing it with so many new friends.  With this I thought it was the perfect time to write my review of the game as it helped refresh what I love about this game.  Curse of Blackmoor Manor was released by HeR Interactive on October 25th, 2004.  So let's get started!

Curse of Blackmoor Manor: Front Gate

Game Description
"Delve into Dark Legends Lurking in the Shadow of an Old English Mansion!

All is not well in Blackmoor Manor, a fourteenth century English mansion haunted by a tragic past. You, as Nancy Drew, embark on your first international adventure to visit Linda Penvellyn, your neighbor’s daughter and newlywed wife of a British diplomat. A mysterious malady keeps Linda hidden behind thick bed curtains. Is she hiding from something or someone, or is a more menacing threat stalking her? Face your fears to find the truth in Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor!"

Storyline
I absolutely love the storyline in this game.  You've been sent to England too figure out why your neighbors daughter has suddenly going hiding in the home refusing to be seen by anyone.  This game was also the first in the Nancy Drew series to be outside of the United States!  I absolutely loved how there was so much to expand the storyline with investigating the beast of Blackmoor, Lina's mysterious illness, the lady in black, and the mysterious Penvellyn treasure.  All of these storylines are tie into each other and it was so much fun figuring out how each one affect the other

Curse of Blackmoor Manor: Gargoyle Puzzle

Puzzles
Many of the puzzles in this game were pretty simple and fairly easy to solve as long as you keep extremely good notes.  I didn't take notes so it definitely made it more of a challenge to figure out.  I personally loved the challenge in each puzzle and if you were at the streams, then you know that because I forgot to take notes, you could probably hear me grumbling though out it.  (I also did this a lot when playing Jane's games, but that more because I was impatience to explore the passageway and I kept loosing to her...)

Curse of Blackmoor Manor: The Great Hall

World/Graphics
The world it absolutely beautiful and I just loved how dark and creepy everything looked.  The constant rain outside, the moody cloudy sky that you can see from Nancy's room just makes this game so spooky and creepy.  I just love how they also design the secret passageways and how you were only allow to look at a small section of the tunnel at a time with glow sticks.  It definitely gives you the spooks!

Curse of Blackmoor Manor: The Conservatory

Music/Soundtrack
The music in this game has to be one of my most favorite ones to listen too.  Since I love it so much that I use the song titled Memoirs as my wake up alarm!  Yes I'm that crazy but its the only think that doesn't make me jump or scare me in the morning.  So if anything, this is basically telling you to get the soundtrack.

Thank you everyone for reading!  I absolutely loved replaying this game on stream and if you have yet to play it then you need to go play it right now!  If you want to see more of my Nancy Drew related posts, check out all my Nancy Drew posts!  Also check out my other Game Reviews for new recommendations of games that I have played.
