How to Install Mickey Saves the Day on Windows 10

Out of all the older pc games that I've wanted to install again on newer computers, Mickey Saves the Day has been one I have been trying to figure out how to install for two years! Well I've finally found the answer on what you need to do to get around the pop up error you receive on newer computers.  This probably will also help older computers who had similar issue as well. So let's get started!

1. Download the Game
So before I begin with the instructions, there is one thing you need to download if you want to play the game.  Over on Internet Archive you can download the Mickey Saves the Day IOS file for the whole game.  If you don't to use a disc or you don't even own the game then this is the safest place to get it in my opinion (I've downloaded 100s of old Disney Interactive games from here as well as other old games and I have never had any issues).  This is the one that I downloaded and use to install the game so there should no issues.

2. Create a New File In Documents
Since this is an old game, I would highly recommend creating a new file to install the game into if you documents folder.  For myself, I opted to name my new file "MSD" for the title of the game.  However, you can name the file whatever you want as long as you can find it while installing the game.

3. Install the Game
When installing the digital download you will need to click on the IOS disc file.  This disc file should be found wherever you downloaded it.  Mine is in my Downloads folder so that where I will select it.  Once you select it you will get a pop up window that you will need to approve (If Windows Security pops put and gives you a warning, click on the more info and then approve it.). Once you get to the main menu screen you will click install.

While installing the game make sure you use custom and not a condensed version on installation.  The game is very small and would work better will the full installation. When installing the game, install the file in the new documents folder you created in set 2.  Once you've done that then you're good to go.

(While installing, you will get one more popup file about installing the game icons.  Don't worry about where these are installed as they will not be used.)

4.  Opening the Game
After installing the game, you will get a popup file of where you install the desktop icon.  DO NOT CLICK THE APPLICATION ICON TO PLAY THE GAME.  If you used these you will get a Steamboat.exe file error.  It will state that:

"The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository..."

(The code is very long and starts to go off into numbers until you reach a DLL file which you cannot open or read.  This will also result int endless popups and will force you to shut down your computer to get rid of it.  The only reason this error happens is because the missing file is only located on the disc and cannot be moved to your computer)

To play the game, go back to the disc and look for the AUTOPLAY application file inside the disc files.  This application by passes the game error that you would get from your desktop apps and allows you to play the game without any issues!
