Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Remastered Review

Another day, another Sherlock Holmes mystery solved!  I have been having an absolute ball playing all the Sherlock Holmes games and the next one on the list was Sherlock Holmes The Awakened!  This was technically the first game in the trilogy series, before Nemesis and Jack the Ripper, though these games were played out of order, I was was still excited to see how this mystery unfolded.  Sherlock Holmes The Awakened was released on September 23rd, 2008 by Frogwares.  So let's get started!

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened: Investigating Fingerprints

Game Description
"The Sherlock Holmes series returns with this updated version of The Awakened, which brings a whole new dimension to the original title developed by Frogwares. Keeping with the traditional gameplay style of the original adventure games, The Awakened has been totally rethought, offering players a new third-person view while keeping the original first-person view available also.

The game puts the player into an investigation of the myth of Cthulhu - as imagined by author H.P. Lovecraft. Sherlock Holmes, assisted by the loyal Doctor Watson, investigates strange disappearances which seem related to the activity of a secret sect. The adventure begins in London, in the renowned Baker Street, taking us to investigate a disturbing psychiatric hospital near Bale, Switzerland, on to Louisiana and finally to Scotland."

Storyline
Just like Jack the Ripper, this game follows a story close to a gory and despicable trail of murder and crime.  This game had me on the edge of my seat!  I think that this game could almost be compared to it Jack the Ripper with how disturbing it was with what happened in the game.  This game was a little bit more graphic in the sense of what you saw.  This defiantly set the mood for the overall game and really showed how you how serious this case was.  Overall, this games storyline is a super fun thriller style mystery game that will put you on the edge of your seat.

Puzzles
I really enjoyed the puzzles in the game.  Many of them remind me of some of the newer Sherlock Holmes games especially with how we were able to look around the crime scenes and investigate.  I think another aspect that I like in this game was quietly investigating locations with no-one the wiser that Sherlock was even there.  I kind of liked that aspect of investigation.  This game really made you think and take even the smallest piece of information and use it in your investigation.

World/Graphics
As I've said before the graphics in this game really held up well over the last 13 years.  The Even with all the location and animations that they implemented into the game look good.  I was able to play the game on the highest graphics possible and it looked and ran absolutely perfect.  I loved exploring each of the different worlds and seeing how Frogwares envisioned each map.

Music/Soundtrack
A absolutely love the music in this game.  Honestly the Piano theme song, which is played during a chase scene is absolutely hilarious and when I first listened to it before playing the game I was so confused on why a song like this was even in the game in the first place.  When I finally reached that part of the game, I was laughing so hard I started cry because a serious chase was set up with such silly music.

Thank you everyone for reading!  I think that this game has to be one of the weirdest Sherlock Holmes game I have played, however it still does not beat Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper in the level of creepiness.  If you want to see more of my Sherlock Holmes related posts, check out all my Sherlock Holmes page!  If you want look for similar game recommendations, you can also check out my Games Review page.  If you want to install the game for yourself check out my post How to Install Sherlock Holmes Collection on Windows 10.
