Controls
One of the first things that I think bugged me when I first started playing Valhalla was the controls. The controls felt very awkward for me and I had to figure out a custom alternative that would be similar to Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Which if you liked the alternative controls in Odyssey I have a post listing out my Assassin's Creed Valhalla PS4/PS5 Custom Controls. I will also be updating this post with some of my updates on some slightly different controls . With my custom controls it has definitely helped my gameplay since I know what buttons do what. However, now I face the issue of not being able to throw things which has led me to blowing myself up multiple times! So if anyone else has recommendations on how to fix this I would love to know. Also love it if Ubisoft gave alternative controls that are similar to Odyssey since it would make playing the game so much easier!
Gameplay
I actually really liked the gameplay that I had experienced so far. I like how each part of the story was set up like a chapter and it had a beginning and ending. When I first heard this feature I wasn't sure if I would like it to much but now that I've played it I liked it a lot and actually preferred the set up this way. It made it easy to finish a portion of the storyline and then run around and exploring the world once I'm done. Honestly I love exploring England and I think one of my favorite locations to explore is what inspired the 100 acre woods in Winnie the Pooh! It's just so pretty there and I honestly need to go back and find it again.
Storyline *No Spoilers*
So far I'm really enjoying the storyline. It really is making me question everything that I've seen so far and I'm slowly piecing everything together. So far I'm about 80% way through the game based on what my PS5 says (I think its more like 60% but only time will tell!). Right now I’m on the edge of my seat and cannot wait to find out what happens next. However, right now I'm enjoying taking a break from the main storyline and exploring the world doing some of the smaller missions and limited timed events which have been super fun.
Thank you everyone for reading. Though I did have some issue with the controls early on in the game, I'm still enjoying the storyline and and the game play in general. I really wanted to write this post earlier however, time just seemed to slip away making it almost impossible to write a thorough first impression. Once I finish the main storyline I plan on writing my review for the game which will hopefully be done before the end of the year, but then I have a bad habit of dragging out the end game since I don't want it to end (Even though I own the DLC and I can still play that...)! So, I would love to hear if you've been enjoying Assassin's Creed Valhalla or if my first impressions have convinced you to try the game out for yourself down in the comments below.
Until next time,
