Nancy Drew Battle Challenge

When it comes to Nancy Drew games, I’m always trying to find new ways to play my favorite games.  A few challenges that I’ve done in the past were trying not to cheat, playing all the games on senior mode, and trying to play the games as fast as you can.  And I realized that there are quite a few challenges that you can do with these games!  There is, however, one challenge that Daniella (The Little Book Spy) and I have created that have out shined all of the rest of them called, “Nancy Drew Battle Challenge.”

The Nancy Drew Battle Challenge is very simple.  The object of the challenge is to play the Nancy Drew game of your choice faster than your opponent(s).  Now, though this is not required, it is helpful that you both are sitting in the same room and are playing at the same time.  Now, to be the winner of the challenge, you must play all 33 game and have more game wins than your opponent(s).

Rules:

1.  Decided on the Difficulty Level
More experienced players should play on Senior while new players should stick to Junior.  If you’re up for the challenge, then all play on Senior mode.  I would recommend that all players play the same game difficulty level.  However, if you know the game by heart then you must play on senior mode.

2.  You Must Play at the Same Time
You all must start playing the game at the exact same time.  If you need to take a break at all or leave your computer for any amount of time, all players must stop playing the game and resume once all players are able to continue.  The only exception to touching the game during a break is when you are saving the game or pausing.

3.  Determine The Winner Per Game
For older games, there is only 1 way to win the round, which is to complete the game before everyone else to win.

For newer games where you can earn multiple awards, a point system is used, which will determine the winner of the game.  For each completed award, you will earn 1 point, you can also win an additional points by complete the game first (1 point), earning more than one Easter Egg (3 points total, 1 point per egg), and if you do not use your allocated 3 hints/cheats you can also earn an additional 3 points (Used hints will decrease the number of points earned. For example, if you used 2 hints/cheats during the round, then you will only earn 1 point).  Whoever has the most points once everyone has completed the game will win that round.

(For games 28-33, You must have a blank slate for awards and earn them only during the challenge.  You can have a list of awards in order to try and complete them all.)

4.  Finding Cheats
Per game, you are allowed 3 hints or 3 complete cheats on puzzles per game.  If the game has a built in hint system then you can use that.  You must be honest when you use cheats.  As a recommendation, please do not use walkthroughs since you will get more information than what you’re looking for.

(Please try and use the Universal Hint System for your cheats it will be more specific to what you’re looking for.)

5.  Cheaters Will Be Disqualified
If you do not follow the rules above then you will be disqualified from the round and will have to forfeit the game to your other opponents who will either continue battling or automatically win.  If there are only 2 players (yourself and your opponent), then they will win by default.

6.   Determining the Winner of the Challenge
To win the whole Nancy Drew Battle Challenge, you must win a majority of the games over your opponents.  If your playing 1 vs.1 then you need to win over 50% or 17+ game to win the whole challenge.  The more opponents you have changes the amount of games you need to win.  Each game is won is worth one point in the whole challenge while second or third place is worth zero.

These are the rules that Daniella (The Little Book Spy) and I play with.  The rules are the most important part of the challenge and if you do not enforce them then you are not playing the challenge to its fullest extent. However, we are always adding or adjusting rules if we feel they need to be tweaked.

Thank you all for reading.  I hope you all will enjoy this little challenge Daniella and I have created.  If you have any questions regarding the battle, then please feel free to comment your question and I will make sure to answer it.  By commenting on this post, it will allow other people who have similar questions get there answers as well.

Until next time,
