Sherlock Holmes The Devil's Daughters Review

After finishing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, I immediately began to play Sherlock Holmes The Devil's Daughter.  The game was released by Frogwares on June 10th, 2016.  This game is a stand alone from Crimes and Punishments, though it does have ties to the game The Testament of Sherlock Holmes which was released in 2012.  However, in this review we will focus on The Devil's Daughter as stand alone game.  So let's get started!

Storyline
Compared to Crimes and Punishments, I felt that these cases really showed the true style of Sherlock Holmes.  The first few cases really made you think and analyze situations that was not only happening in the case but what was going on in Sherlock's life and how these complicated everything.

When it came to the last two cases in the game, I will admit that they seemed a little rushed or thrown together.  Specifically, I'm pointing to the last case.  This last case honest seemed to jump out of know where since this game is based around being a stand alone and not related to Crimes and Punishments.

Though there is a connection between The Devils Daughter and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, it seemed to me that the ending could have played out better than what it was.  However, this unpolished ending will not stop me from playing the game again in future, maybe the second time around I might get a better understanding of what I might be missing.

Puzzles
The puzzles in the game are a little more interesting this time around.  Instead of investigating and questioning suspects an creating deductions of crimes, you are a lot more hands on in searching for clues that are outside of the crime scene.  For example, Holmes dressing as a Priest and performing an exorcism during one of the cases.  This was a completely different take on the puzzles and with the character change on how Sherlock acts in this version of the game, it really added a new depth to the character.

Graphics
The graphics in the game were amazing as always.  I will also admit that I even hooked up my PS4 VR to play the game for a little bit to pretend that the game was a PSVR game.  Though this game is not built for PSVR, I decided to hook it up to play in a movie theater mode and played the game in first person mode.  This made for a fun experience and it really made you feel as if you were in Sherlock's shoes!

Thank you everyone for reading!  I has so much fun playing The Devils Daughter and I loved the new elements that this game had.  With that, I cannot wait for them to make another Sherlock Holmes game and see what mysteries he solves in the future!  So while we wait for the next game, check out my Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments Review.  You can also check out all my Game Reviews!

Until next time,
