Nancy Drew Alibi in Ashes Review

Hello everyone!  Today I’m going to review Nancy Drew Alibi in Ashes.  This is the 25thinstallment in the Nancy Drew Series.  This game was one of the last copies I ever bought at the store before buying directly from Her Interactive.  I was so excited to play this game since it was so different from the previous games that Her Interactive has released at that point in time.  So let’s get started!

Alibi in Ashes: Burned Town Hall
Escape the Smoky Intrigue of a Hometown Inferno!

A local contest turns into an arson scene and now deceit smolders among the charred ruins of the River Heights Town Hall. Police have several suspects, but well-placed incriminating evidence and poisonous local gossip compelled authorities to make only one arrest: Nancy Drew. Can you, as the teenage detective and her closest friends, catch the real arsonist and extinguish the accusations among the embers?”

Alibi in Ashes: Bess Marvin at Scoop

Playable Characters
One of the main this that makes this game stand out beyond all the rest is because of how many characters you could choose from to play.  The main character, being Nancy obviously.  However with how this game worked you are able to play as either Ned, Bess, and George!  I had so much fun playing each of these characters and kind of see how they each would and a situation.  There is one character that I really wish you got to physically see in the game and that was Ned.  He's not in any of the locations that you can visit him like you could Bess and George.  Hopefully we will get to see Ned in person in another game.

Alibi in Ashes: Police Station

Storyline
I really enjoyed the storyline in this game and how each of the characters had the ability to affect each of the suspects different.  Such as Bess with Toni, Ned with Deirdre, and Nancy with Alexei.  It really made the game interesting and I think that it really gave the player the ability to not only learn more about each character but it shows the different responses that each suspect gives you depending on who you are playing.  I felt that the story flowed very well and it seemed to leave no loose ends once the game was complete.  Except for one thing and that was, Did Nancy take all the snacks Hannah sent or did she leave them in the police station?

Alibi in Ashes: Lock Picking Puzzle

Puzzles
When it comes to puzzles in this game, there is almost an endless supply of them.  Especially if you play the extra side puzzles in Scoop, the ice cream parlor.  While investigating the fire that Nancy has been accused of, not only do you get to explore the town but you get to sneak around and look behind closed doors of everyone that is a suspect in the fire.  I especially loved the lock picking puzzles since there very many chances you get to pick a lock in a Nancy Drew game as we just normally "borrow" a key.

Alibi in Ashes: Strawberry Milkshake From Scoop

One of my favorite things to do in this game was order all the ice cream I could and see what my total bill would be by the end of the game.  I always tried to get a bill over $100 dollars since each ice cream doesn't have a price listed.  I think my highest bill was about $350.  Well more or less...

Graphics
The graphics never are a disappointing.  Everything is bright and colorful, and of course realistic looking.  I think one fo the best locations we got to look at in the game was the inside of Nancy's House.  I honestly wish I could seem more of the house as I would love to explore so much more of it, however I guess I will just have to suffice with imagining what the rest of the house.

Thank you all for reading!  I would highly recommend playing this game as this is one of my favorite newer games in the series and I honestly had a ton of fun exploring where Nancy grew up.  So have you played Alibi in Ashes, and if you have, what was your favorite part about the game.  If you want to get this game for yourself, you can get your own copy over on Her Interactive or on Steam.

Until next time,
