Sherlock Holmes Chapter One Teaser Gameplay Revealed
I'm beaming with excitement right now! On February 11th, Frogwares shared on the official Sherlock Holmes Twitter page a bit of the gameplay footage of what Sherlock Holmes Chapter One will look like! This is the first change we have gotten to see the game in motion since the teaser trailers when they first announce it. So let's dive into what we got to see in the game teaser and analyze it. Let's get started!
This is exactly what I've been waiting to see and the fact that a full gameplay reveal is coming towards the end March, early April is making me jump for joy! From what we can see so far in this video is a bit of the walking mechanic as Sherlock runs around on the island. Giving us a little teaser of that open world experience. I'm honestly expecting to spend many hours exploring the town and looking at all the little details that had been placed.
The first thing that caught my eye was, of course, the fight scene in the beginning. It was front and center of the video and as we have been told before, fighting will be one of the game mechanics the game and I'm kind of curious how they set it up. After the fight scene we then were able to catch quick glimpses of the open world concept and out of everything this is what I'm most excited for!
We also got a glimpse of what could be Sherlock's character deduction and from what I can see it doesn't look like we will be interact with it this time around like in previous games. However, I could be wrong and the deduction was due before the recorded clip. They also showed off how we will be investigating clues which is fairly similar to older games. Now out of all of this, one of my most favorite has to be listening to the game music at the end! I loved it and I hope that there will be a soundtrack for sale later in the future!
Back on January 21st, Frogwares also released a "Your Questions Answered Pt. 1 | Sherlock Holmes Chapter One" as it answered fan asked questions about the game. For this video, I think the best way to summarize it would be to share a the questions and answers they covered about the game here. However if you want to you can still listen to the video if you want. With this they also released two new images from the game which I have place below.
Frogwares Q&A
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How big is the game going to be and how many cases will it cover?
The game will have 5 main quest that will connect though one continuous story. There will also be 30 additional side quests with some of these quest will be a big as the main storyline. To complete the main story it can take about 12 to 15 hours to complete and around 40 to 50 hours if you want to see everything there is in the game.
Will the game be focused solely own the mystery involving the death of Sherlock's mother? Or will we have minor mysteries to deal with along the way too?
"Sherlock I indeed driven by his gaol to learn the truth about his mother - that;'s his motivation fro the main quest, but keep in mind that he also wants to prove to everybody that he's a real detective, so he's eager to investigate any incidents - or side quests if you will - that occur in the island, and they all offer different stories. Some are linked to Sherlock and Jon and their pasta while the others revolve around the people on the island and the skeletons in their closets."
Sherlock Holmes Chapter One: Archeologist Dig Site
Is the game very linear, or will we have options as to what quests we do when?
The game is built open world so after you complete the first main quest, you will be free to explore the island and find new quests on your own. It will be up to you to choose what you want to do and when, so you can play both main and side content in any order you want.
Will Sherlock wear any disguise costumes this time?
Yes! Disguises are a big part of Chapter One . As you play you can find or buy new outfits that will help you gain the trust of different social groups, gain access to closed off areas or simply customize how your Sherlock looks. New outfits, hats, glasses, change facial hair, etc. You can even apply bruises and wrinkles to look older.
I read that we'd be able to decorate the mansion so will be able to shop for furniture and clothes or will they get unlocked as we play?
Both! As you play though the game you will either find or earn them as a reward, or you might even have to buy them from the local vendor.
Will the game have multiple outcomes for cases, or endings like the the previous ones?
Yes. All main quests and more side quests will have different outcomes based your deduction choices as well as moral choices. As well as the game offering several different endings.
Sherlock Holmes Chapter One: Mediterranean City at Sunset
Will it four on just solving puzzles or will we see Sherlock do some fighting?
We will see Sherlock do some fighting where it will make sense for the story.
How much of The Sicking City structure will there be? The inquiries will be conducted in a linear way or we'll be free to make mistakes and declare guilt the wrong person?
"Yes, you can definitely accuse the wrong person, like in Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments. For example, in each main quest you will ahem several different suspects and usually you can make deductions that eatery of them could be responsible for the crime. It depends on how many clue you have found and how you interpret their context and piece them together, so it's possible to fail your investigation, but this story will continue regardless."
