I love playing simulation games and Journey of Life is one of the newest games that I've recently dived in to. Journey of Life is was released by Hyperion Studio on April 15, 2018 and it is the first game released by the company. I want to thank Adriano from Hyperion Studio and Keymailer for the opportunity to review this game. So, let's get started!

Journey of Life: Forest Exploration |
Game Description
Journey of life is a survival sandbox game where the player finds himself on a group of islands where each island has a different biome with different flora and fauna.
In order to build a village, the player needs to create a variety of stations that will process materials found on the islands into components used in crafting tools and weapons needed for survival.
The player needs to build a dock on the coast to be able to construct a ship used in sailing between islands. Before the ability to departure, the player needs to fill the ship with resources such as food and water to survive the stormy seas!

Gameplay
When I first started the game, as the survivor(s), you are tasked with learning how to survive and explore the island. As you begin to learn how to play the game, you get a pop up window explaining the game and the mechanics. As you start to explore the island, you will find question marks where each one describes specific aspects that you need to know while playing. I found all these super helpful as I built and explored the world around me.Journey of Life: Forest Lake |
I will admit, I had to create a new game a few times to understand what I was doing. In addition, after I ran into some glitches, it made it difficult to continue the save. However, after the V0.8.5.6.1 update, this helped my game tremendously! The bugs that I was experiencing when I first started playing were gone. I was able to build, gather materials without them disappearing after reloading the game, build tools, and start building my home a lot faster without any issues.
Journey of Life: The Start of My Home |
As you can see in the first two pictures of My Base Camp and The Start of My Home, I've already started planning out what I wanted my first little bungalow house to look like. I'm pretty happy with what I've completed so far and I can't wait play more of the game. Soon the island will be populated with all these cute and tiny homes and villages everywhere.

World/Graphics
When it came to the graphics of the game, they are gorgeous. All the trees, plants, bushes, water, and sky are so realistic. I honestly thought I was actually on the beautiful island and I loved exploring all this island has to offer. I will admit, every time that I got too far away from my camp, I end up getting super lost, which did make it difficult to find my base camp. I would love to have the ability to have a map so I can keep myself from getting turned around since the main island is huge. During my earlier play-through, I never saw any animals other than a few crabs that crawled around. However after the V0.8.5.6.1 update, I've now met quite a few of the animals and I have learned very quickly that I need to make sure I stay away from all bears, pigs, and wolves or I'll be the next meal on the menu...Journey of Life: Flatland Forest |
Glitches
Since starting the game, many of the glitches that I originally was going to point out have been fixed. However, the only remaining glitch that I've been experiencing is the ground looking a little odd. The ground looked like it was a mix between a black background splattered with colored paint (Ex. Brown, Tan, or Red depending on your location) on about 90% of the map. I'm honestly not sure why the ground looks like this in the game for me. The only thing I can think of is that I'm playing the game through BootCamp PC since I own a Mac and there is some kind of glitch. Other than that, it doesn't affect the game to much other than when it gets dark. It kind of makes it hard to see where you're walking at night.Thank you everyone for reading! In the beginning, I had a difficult start to Journey of Life, however, as I slowly began to learn the controls and figured out the mechanics of the game, the easier the game became. I've really been enjoying the survival and building aspect of the game since I've figured it out and I can't wait to jump back into the game. If you want to get the game for yourself then you can get Journey of Life on Steam.
