Story Idea's for Nancy Drew Game 34

As we all wait for the next bit of news from Her Interactive for their next Nancy Drew adventure game, it came to my mind that we don't exactly know where Nancy's next mystery is going to be.  We have our speculation, which I talked about in Nancy Drew Game #34 Teased.  However, since we don't have any idea on what the next mystery is about or any hint of where Nancy will be doing next, I thought it would be fun to discuss the possible locations and mystery ideas based on the Classic Yellow back books.  I want to thank Daniella (The Little Book Spy) for helping me compile this list.  So let's get started!

Jordan's Pick: Mystery of the Tolling Bell
While vacationing in a seaside town, Nancy learns her father has been kidnapped. She and Ned rescue Carson Drew and help him investigate a cosmetic company’s suspicious operations. Meanwhile, the girl sleuth is captivated by another mystery. Stories about the eerie moans from a cave carved in the jagged wall of the bluff compel her to explore. Several frightened townspeople claim to have seen a ghost, accompanied by the mournful sound of a tolling bell just before water rushes from the cave. During her searches, Nancy discovers the true cause and reasons behind these mysterious occurrences!

When doing my research for this post, I immediately stumbled upon this book and the second I read the description I knew that this book has to become a Nancy Drew game as it will not only give us the ability to see Ned in person instead of on the phone and it would mean that we would get to see Carson Drew in person!  This book not only fulfills the idea of having Ned joining us int he next game but it would also mean Carson would join us too.  Though I know not everything in the book would be exact it still a good premise that I would love to see.

This book is based on Nancy and Ned traveling to a sea side town to find Carson and help him investigate a cosmetic company.  Though I know that investigation for the cosmetic company would change, it's still a good idea and it could really bring a new sense of familiar mystery for the next game.

Daniella's Pick: The Secret of the Golden Pavilion
Nancy is on the case, once again! Her father’s client, Mr.Sakamaki needs help. His deceased grandfather’s estate, Kaluakua has a mystery nobody knows. Its Golden Pavilion may be haunted, and two middle-aged suspects claim to be the grand children of Grandfather Sakamaki and are going to run and take over the estate. Nancy must prove them wrong and stop a terrible gang called the Double Scorps who are trying to steal the secret kings cape in the Golden Pavilion. Are the posing grandchildren part of the Double Scorps and are going to inherit the estate for all of the Double Scorps? What does a sacred king’s cape have to do with the Secret of the Golden Pavilion? And who is that ghost that dances by the Pavilion every night? Nancy is going to find out everything, from the Double Scorps, to perhaps two Grandfather Sakamaki. Could the Grandfather Sakamaki in California be the wrong one that owns the Kaluakua? Help Nancy Drew solve the mystery!

When looking through the list of books available, this book immediately stood out to me! Even though I read this book several years ago, based on the description alone, I would love to see this book become a game. A haunted location with a mysterious ghost, secrets, and an estate that's currently being fought over, this is definitely the kind of mystery I would love to see Nancy go on.

Jordan's Pick:  The Mystery of the Brass-Brown Trunk

On a trip to New York City from the Netherlands, Nancy, Bess, and George, along with new friend Nelda, must discover why someone is threatening both Nancy and Nelda, who share the same initials, and also discover the origin of a mysterious trunk bearing the initials N.D. Nancy must also unravel the mysteries of smuggled jewelry, and purloined documents from an African government.

I remember reading this book back in grade school and I always thought it would be cool to have Nancy solve a mystery aboard a cruise ship.  A very similar idea was suggested for the 3rd Dossier game, Ship of Shadows.  However, this game was discontinued as the company move on to other projects.  However ,that doesn't mean that the idea should not be made for the main series of games.  I would love to see Bess and George in the game since they are in the book.

Daniella's Pick:  Secret In The Old Attic
Nancy searches for clues to missing music manuscripts written by soldier Philip March. March's daughter and his father, living together on the family estate, are rapidly running out of money, and believe some of Philip's music is being sold and played on the radio. Nancy goes to the estate to investigate, with the assistance of her good friends, Bess and George. In the meantime, her father's client solicits her aid in his investigation of a rival company, which seems to be manufacturing silk cloth using his patented methods. And what is Bushy Trott, manic scientist, doing at the Dight plant?
Nancy continues trying to solve both mysteries, discovering hidden songs in the process. The resolution of both cases are quite climactic.

When I saw this book, it immediately caught my attention. I would love to see a game where Nancy is searching for musical manuscripts and how in reality they're secretly clues that lead to something more sinister.

Jordan's Pick:  The Hidden Window Mystery
Nancy is intrigued by a magazine article offering a large reward to anyone finding a missing medieval stained-glass window. She invites Bess and George to join her on a search in Charlottesville, Virginia. During the girls' investigation of Ivy Hall, an old rundown, southern mansion, rented by a superstitious actress, they encounter a hostile ghost. Eerie sounds come from a beautiful neighboring estate that is surrounded by a high brick wall. Could these mysterious noises and the ghost at Ivy Hall be connected?

Now this would be a good mystery.  This mystery is right up Nancy's alley and it would be fun to have Bess and George join Nancy in another mystery to look for a missing medieval stained glass window.  This books location is in Charlottesville, Virginia which would be a new location for Nancy to visit and this would give us another change to have both Bess and George to help solve another mystery with Nancy!

Daniella's Pick:  Secret of the Forgotten City
Rumors of a treasure hidden long ago in a city now buried under the Nevada desert lead Nancy, Bess and George to join a college sponsored archaeological dig in search of this priceless gold. Clues from an ancient stone with petroglyphs lead Nancy to the hidden treasure. Danger from a clever thief wanting this cache almost causes Nancy and Ned to lose their lives!

One thing that I've been wanting for a long time is more Nancy Drew games based on/near the West Coast since many games take place on the East Coast. I would love for Nancy to travel to Nevada and search for a mysterious treasure buried somewhere in the Nevada desert.  Maybe  Bess, George, and Ned come along for the mystery as well!

Jordan's Pick:  The Moonstone Castle
When Nancy Drew receives a valuable moonstone as a gift from an unknown person, she is amazed and puzzled. But it is only the first of several startling events in this complex mystery that challenge the ingenuity of the pretty sleuth. Why are the Bowens--a missionary couple who recently returned to the United States--having so much trouble finding their missing seventeen-year-old granddaughter?

I would love to solve another mystery in a castle and with hint that Nancy might travel to castle in Austria from Midnight In Salem, this book is looking pretty promising with its mysterious moonstone.  Though the idea of exploring castle has been done before in Treasure in the Royal Tower and The Captive's Curse, this idea in my opinion would never get old and I would love to explore more castles theme games in the future.

Daniella's Pick:  The Ghost of Blackwood Hall
When Mrs. Putney seeks Nancy's help in recovering her stolen jewelry, the search for the thieves takes the girl detective and her friends, Bess and George, to an abandoned mansion in the River Heights vicinity known as Blackwood Hall and to the colorful French Quarter of New Orleans. When the quest is hampered by the strange behavior of Mrs. Putney and two young women who are being victimized by so-called spirits, Nancy must fight these unseen perpetrators of a cruel hoax! The resourceful young sleuth wants to help, but is hindered. The ghostly spirits have warned these gullible victims to not to have anything to do with Nancy Drew!

When I came across this book, immediately a lightbulb went on since this kind of book definitely has the look and feel of a Nancy Drew game!  I would love for more games in this series to involve ghosts, séances, and creepy things that keep players on the edge of their seat!  Maybe we can even see a certain someone "Savannah Woodham" in the games and get her help in solving the case?

Jordan's Pick:  The Strange Message In Parchment
A sheep farmer receives a mysterious telephone call after he buys a series of pictures painted on parchment. He is told to decipher the message in the parchment and “right a wrong.” The man asks Nancy to help solve the baffling mystery that soon involves a boy artist, a kidnapper and a group of extortionists.

Now this premise is interesting.  I would love to see how this book could influence the next game and how it a story of paintings on parchment could influence another mystery.  I would also say that this book would be great to pair with either another book or additional storyline to help expand the original story idea.

Daniella's Pick:  The Haunted Show Boat
Nancy, Bess and George visit New Orleans for Mardi Gras. While on vacation for the festivities, the three friends become involved with pirates, ghosts, and investigating an old showboat, rumored to be haunted, that must be restored in time for the gala celebrations.

I know we've already had a game take place in New Orleans, but I would love to see Nancy explore a haunted showboat that's currently being restored. There definitely could be some spooky things going on in this ship, with potential secrets about the ships dark and eerie history.

Thank you everyone for reading!  I want to again thank Daniella (The Little Book Spy) for helping me compile a list of locations on where she though the next Nancy Drew game could be.  I'm really interested to if any of these location are going to be in the next game and what the true location of Nancy Drew Game 34.  I would love to know what you think of these locations and if I didn't list a location that you want, let me know what it is in the comment below.  If you want to see more of my Nancy Drew related posts, check out all my Nancy Drew posts!  Also check out my other Game Reviews.
