Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit Demo Review

With the Steam Game Festival there are so many games demos available to play!  With that I thought it would be fun to review another short little game demo from this event.  Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit is a new and up coming point and click adventure game were a girl name Milda where she finds out she is an heir and last guardian of a mysterious family secret.  I've been watching this game for the last few months and was super excited to finally get the chance to play the demo now!  Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit was created by Tag of Joy and is expected to be released during the first quarter of 2021.  So let's get started!

Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit
Game Description

"Legends of the past come back to life in a charming mystery adventure. Pack your bags and journey through modern day Europe to uncover the secrets of the king who was never crowned.

Legends of the past come back to life in a charming European mystery adventure.

Milda, a girl from Chicago, unexpectedly receives the last will of her deceased grandfather – it appears that she is an heir and the last guardian of a mysterious family secret. Following a handful of obscure hints, Milda is thrown into an adventurous, puzzle packed search for the truth.

Crowns and Pawns, inspired by point-and-click classics such as Broken Sword, Still Life, Syberia and others, brings the less explored history of Europe to the world of adventurers. Experience the legendary stories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, beware of the villainous branch of the KGB, solve puzzles and follow hints to reveal the secrets of the king who was never crowned.

But be wary – he could trust no one. Can you?"

Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit: Milda at Her Late Grandfather's Home

Gameplay
I really enjoyed the gameplay of the game.  The simple to use point and click system made this game so enjoyable for me.  As I'm a huge fan of point and click adventure games this game really brought back memories other games that I played.  I cannot wait for this game to join my list of some of the best point and click adventure games.  I also really like the about to see the different options available when you interacted with an object in the game such as having the eyes to look at an item or a hand to interact with it.  I also really like the simple inventory system as it made it easy to navigate between objects and use them to interact in the world.

Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit: Inside Milda's Grandfather's Home

Storyline
I'm really interested in Milda's family secret.  Is it treasure, is it a cursed crown, or it is something that I haven't even though of yet?  All I know is that I am invested in this story and I cannot wait to play more of this game.  The demo is based on a small section of Chapter 2 were you get to explore Milda's Grandfather's home.  Which you find has been ransacked by thieves who are looking for the same thing you are, the family's mysterious secret.  After playing the demo, I know that I want to get down to the bottom of this mystery and figure out what the family secret is and who else is looking for it and why.

Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit:  Fuse Box Puzzle

Puzzles
I really enjoyed the puzzles in the game.  Each puzzle were simple logic based puzzles and I will admit I had so much fun trying to solve each one of the.  The first puzzle that you solve is the fuse box puzzle where you must flip the switches to match a specific pattern given in the instructions.  I will admit that it did stump me at first but after play around with the possible patterns of what it could be I finally solved it to progress forward.  Overall I really enjoyed these puzzles and I cannot wait to solve more!

Thank you everyone for reading!  I really enjoyed play Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit and I cannot wait for the full release of the game.  If you want to play the demo for yourself you can find it over on the Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit Steam Page.  Also check out my other Game Reviews for new recommendations of games that I have played.

Until next time,
