As vacation starts for many, I found that I've really wanted to go back and jump into some of the older Nancy Drew games. So this summer, I've decided to start back up my Nancy Drew Battle Challenge with Daniella (The Little Book Spy) and the game that she picked was Trail of the Twister! So I thought it was a great chance to finally write my review for the game! Trail of the Twister was released by Her Interactive on June 29th, 2010. So let's get started!
Trail of the Twister: Canute Farm House |
Game Description
Apprehend a Saboteur Stirring up Turbulent Trouble! $100,000,000 is at stake in this competition to discover a formula to predict tornado touchdowns. But when equipment starts failing and crew members are injured, you as Nancy Drew, must join the team to keep them in the competition. Is it just bad luck that’s plaguing the storm chasers or is someone sabotaging their chances of winning in the action adventure Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister?

Gameplay
I really enjoyed the gameplay of this game. Trail of the Twister was one of the first games that I bought where I was caught up with the most recent game in the series back in 2010, which made me super excited to play this game. As per usual, the game is based around the classic point and click system which makes everything simple and easy to navigate. With this game, we also have the addition of a driving feature were you use your mouse to drive Nancy's borrowed car around town. Which I found super easy to use and navigate but I will admit, there were a few times it felt more like playing bumper cars while I drove around and I prayed that I wouldn't have to start driving all over again because I either hit another car or a car hit me and I was given a second chance!Trail of the Twister: Shelf Storm Clouds |
Storyline
Compared to the other Nancy Drew games, I found that this storyline was a little bit more serious compared to some of the other games. Some of the other games seemed to be a little more light hearted, while this mystery was very serious and it left no room for arguing. I think this had to do with the topic of tornados and twisters as these can be very scary storms and you always need to be prepared. Other than that, the game does have some light hearted jokes spread throughout the game to distract you from the seriousness that the game presents. This games is also one of the eight educational themed games that Her Interactive has advertised. Which explains some of the more serious tone in the game as it teaches you about tornados and what these storms can do.Trail of the Twister: Sprinkler Puzzle |
Puzzles
There were so many fun puzzles in this game. Many of them I found were very informative such as the Fujita Scale puzzle or setting up the sirens for the town. I will admit however that some of these puzzles in the games were down right frustrating for me to solve. Specifically the Fujita scale puzzle, as it was in my opinion, super confusing since I kept mixing up the numbers. One of my favorite puzzles which was both challenging and simple was the Sprinkler puzzle. It really made you think and focus on all the possibilities of getting the sprinkler work. The rest of the puzzles were very simple and easy to solve, such as the mouse trap puzzle, the candy display puzzle, and Antenna Reconstruction puzzle.Trail of the Twister: Nancy Driving |
I had so much fun driving around in the game just like in Secret of the Old Clock. It made the game so much fun to explore since you had the ability to drive from one location to another. The only difference between this game and Secret of the Old Clock would be amount of cars in the world and I will not be the first to admit that I might have cause a few car pile ups due to all the other cars bad driving as my driving was impeccable!
Thank you everyone for reading! I always love going back to playing older Nancy Drew games and this one was so much fun to play again.
