Sherlock Holmes Nemesis Remastered Review

Out of all the older Sherlock Holmes games (2007-2009), Sherlock Holmes Nemesis or what was formerly titled, Sherlock Holmes Versus Arséne Lupin has to be one of my most favorite games in the older game engine.  I will always remember this game for one reason, being stuck in the British Museum Library but now that I finally have my hands on the remastered version of the game I could finally finish it!  Sherlock Holmes Versus Arséne Lupin was originally released by Frogwares on April 14th, 2008.  They later remastered the game, changing the name to Sherlock Holmes Nemesis on May 18th, 2010.  So let’s get started!

Sherlock Holmes Nemesis: British Museum Rosetta Stone

Game Description
"This new Sherlock Holmes game sends us to 19th Century London where Arséne Lupin, a young French burglar with an impressive track record, has just challenged Scotland Yard and the most famous of detectives - Sherlock Holmes.

This new adventure offers gamers tremendous freedom and an even stronger sense of involvement through real-time 3D. The game invites you to visit 19th century London in all its splendor and to travel through superb decors which have been faithfully reproduced.

Features:
The magnificent city of London with all its most famous monuments (Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Tower of London...), is faithfully created for the scenes of investigation.  Meet the Queen of England in a very private interview.  Interact with more than 40 characters to further your inquiry.  Take turns being the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and his faithful friend, Doctor Watson.   Use and combine more than 100 objects and discover hundreds of clues and documents to help you bring the investigation to its conclusion."

Storyline
Out of the main three Sherlock Holmes's game, this one was definitely much lighter in tone and focuses more on being happier game compared to The Awakened and Jack the Ripper.  This definitely made it my top favorite for the storyline as you try to catch Arséne Lupin in the act of each robbery!  I honestly loved trying to figure out each clue as we tried to figure out Lupin's plan.  After each robbery, it seemed to fuel this energy on trying to capture Lupin and how you could see everyone including Sherlock becoming frustrated.  It was very apparent that he did not like being made a fool of but he knew that the only way to win was to play the role of the fool.

Sherlock Holmes Nemesis: Library (Reading Room)

Puzzles
I will admit that many of the puzzles in Nemesis were fairly easy to solve.  Many of the puzzles were logic based and you could easily solve them without cheating.  However, there were a few puzzles that might need you to take a peak at the walkthrough.  But other than that most of the puzzles were fairly logic based and if your anything like Sherlock then you will get though it in no time!

Out of all the puzzles in this game, the one that I remember the most is the horrid library puzzle!  In my previous disc version, the game was glitched and it was impossible to find what you were looking for, however with the remastered version on Steam, this issue is a thing of the past and both Daniella and I breezed though it with ease (we may have also used a walkthrough since we refused to get stuck at that point again due to past issues but it is solvable!).  Which we were both very grateful for since we really wanted to finish the game.

World/Graphics
The graphics for this game were very well done.  I also loved having the ability to play the game in 1st person.  This made the game so much fun to play because of that since it got to look around the game as if I was really there.  This also gave me the ability to look at everything in super close detail.  This made everything look really good and realistic to an extent.  These graphics really stand up compared to the age of the game and are still looking great.

Music/Soundtrack
I think I've said this for every Sherlock Holmes game so far but I absolutely love the soundtrack for the game.  It is my favorite to listen to while I work on homework or I just want to listen to something calming.  Even while writing most of this post I'm listening it it.  So if you ever get the chance to get the music I would highly recommend it!

Thank you everyone for reading!  I had so much fun replaying Nemesis after all these years and I'm happy that I was finally able to catch Lupin in the act!  Check you my other Sherlock Holmes posts.  Right now, I'm planing on reviewing all the ones that I own for PC and soon the latest game Sherlock Holmes Chapter One once the game is released later this year.  If you want look for game recommendations you can check out my Games Review page.  If you want to install the game for yourself check out my post How to Install Sherlock Holmes Collection on Windows 10.  Which will help you install the games on newer computers not give you the game for free.

Until next time,
