Frogwares Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Remake

Breaking news! This morning, I received a very important email from Frogwares on their next game!  It was one that I never expected and I am so excited to see how this game will change in the remastered, compared to the original. That’s right, Frogwares is taking their original Sherlock Holmes The Awakened and remaking it into a completely brand new games! I’m going to talk about what we know of the game, how this game will possibly differ from the original, and where you can help support the game's creation! So, let’s get started!

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened: Sherlock and Watson

Over the last few months, Frogwares has been teasing this upcoming project calling it "Project Palianytsia," which has been a great tease for fans wondering what the next game will be. They've been showing photos of updated locations, which I’m amazed that somehow I didn't recognize as one of the original Awakened location, with updated graphics in Unity. I knew they looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened was released on February 27, 2007. It was technically the first of 3 games in the Sherlock Holmes series that Frogwares had created. This game was more of a horror game and it was inspired by the original story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  If you check out my original Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Review, you can see that it was very creepy games.

In a email, Frogwares talked about how the original game is different compared to the remake.

"The Awakened remake sees a young Sherlock take on his first major case alongside his newly acquainted sidekick, John Watson. What seems like a straightforward case of a missing person quickly spirals into a web of conspiracies by a nefarious cult that worships the eldritch god Cthulhu and is attempting to bring about an ancient prophecy. The game will take the detective duo across 4 locations — Victorian London, a Swiss psych ward, the New Orleans bayous, and the Scottish Highlands — as they try to separate reality from the supernatural while trying to put a stop to these shadowy madmen."

This remake will be raising money on the Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Kickstarter page where you can support these new and improved updates (And buy the game!).  At the moment, the kickstarter campaign is set for "Coming Soon," which I will be linking here if anyone ways to support the game. I know Daniella and I will be!

They stated in their announcement that the game is almost completely done, except for the new voice acting and other technical features that they need to add to the game. The fundraiser will give them the resources to help finalize the game for release.  Frogwares also stated that by supporting them on Kickstarter, you will be able to get the game at a cheaper price along with extra goodies for supporting the Kickstarter alone.  Once this kickstarter opens, I definitely know where my money is going!  I will also write a update on the Kickstarter once it goes live.

Looking at all the photos from the game, which are also spread throughout this post, it looks incredible! If anyone wants to read the official announcement, you can find it over on Frogwares official website.  Also look at Sherlock, he's grown up so much since his adventures on Cordona!  He looks amazing and doesn't have that baby face anymore.  It's going to be very interesting to see how his age in this game will affect the case.  Will it be similar to Chapter One when it comes to his cockiness or will he be a little more mature and serious?  Will his age affect how we play the game compared to the original?  Only one way to find out!

Thank you everyone for reading! So, what do you think of this new remake in the Sherlock Holmes series? Personally, I feel like this is great! I’ve always wanted and updated version of The Awakened and maybe a few other games...  There's so much this story was originally missing in the first game and for them to go back and revise the story to give it the life it deserved has me super excited.  T
his rewrite will be a great way to experience a different Sherlock Holmes compared the the original stuffy/stiff version that we all know and of course still love. What do you think of the new Sherlock Holmes The Awakened? I would love to know your thoughts in the comment below!

Until next time,
